Daktronics Bolsters AV Business Development and Sales Team with Two New Hires
Tye Dato and Austin Nelson bring additional experience to the direct-view LED market for the company
BROOKINGS, S.D. – June 28, 2024 – Bringing additional experience to its AV business development and sales team, Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, has hired Tye Dato and Austin Nelson. Dato is focused on AV channel business development with a focus on the federal government and military markets while Nelson is focused on AV integrator sales in the Pacific Northwest and Canada.
“As the world of indoor direct-view LED applications continues to grow exponentially, we took this opportunity to expand our sales team focused on these opportunities,” said Jim Vasgaard, Daktronics national sales manager for the AV sales channel. “Building our team to better support the marketplace allows us to expand our delivery of high-quality, reliable narrow pixel pitch products for our customers to leverage for their needs.”
Dato’s Experience
Dato is familiar with Daktronics as he started his career with the company in 2007. He’s worked in various Daktronics markets through 2019 before moving into the AV sales position. This year, he accepted the position as AV channel business development and senior strategic sales representative for the federal government and military markets. In this role, he’s focused on connecting the Daktronics AV sales team with direct-view LED installation opportunities directly or through AV integrators.
“We’re excited for Tye to move into this role where he can do his best work for a marketplace that heavily values our products that are assembled in the United States and Trade American Act (TAA) compliant,” added Vasgaard. “We’re seeing a good amount of growth in the military command center applications and look forward to the great things Tye can bring to this space.”
Nelson’s Experience
Nelson joined the Daktronics team in 2016 and leans on his experience with the company’s On Premise business unit in the south-central region of the United States. He recently accepted the position of sales representative promoting direct-view LED solutions and their various applications to AV integrators and end users.
“Building an experienced and knowledgeable sales team is critical to serving our customers and we’ve accomplished this need by bringing Austin into this role for the western United States and Canada regions,” commented Vasgaard. “He has a plethora of Daktronics and LED experience that will lend itself well to bringing our tighter resolution product to the marketplace.”
Daktronics direct-view LED and narrow pixel pitch product line ranges from 2.5 millimeters down to 0.7-millimeter pixel spacings and includes Surface Mount Device (SMD), Integrated Matrix Device (IMD) and Chip On Board (COB) technologies. This product line brings expansive opportunities to those spaces commonly associated with LCD technology to create luxurious and immersive environments, share artistic digital content or show detailed, high-quality video.
