What To Ask Employees (And Former!) Of Your Next Potential Landing Spot
Written by Tim Rowe | Host of The OOH Insider
As a job seeker, talking to current and former employees of the company you’re interested in can be extremely helpful in getting a better understanding of the organization’s culture and expectations.
No one knows an organization better than those who have worked there, both current and former employees.
When speaking to current employees, ask them questions like:
-What do they like most about working at the company?
-What do they find most challenging?
-How would they describe the culture?
-What kind of opportunities are there for growth?
When speaking to former employees, ask them questions like:
-What motivated them to leave?
-What was the most difficult part of their experience?
-What surprised them the most about the organization?
-What advice would they give to someone considering joining the company?
Keep in mind that it is important to remain professional throughout the conversation. Don’t be afraid to ask questions but make sure to respect the person’s time.
Speaking to current and former employees will provide you with an insider’s perspective, allowing you to make an informed decision about the company you’re interested in.
With this knowledge, you’ll be in a better position to decide whether or not the company is a good fit for you. Good luck!
