Lead Generation: Helping Your Business Grow
Your business will either grow or fall by your success in bringing in new clients. Lead generation is a great way to get valuable leads and act on them. Let’s look at the basics of lead generation below.
What is lead generation?
Lead generation is the action or process of identifying and cultivating potential customers for a business’s products or services. Once you have people’s attention, the main goal is to convert them into customers.
Why is it important?
When someone is finding your business for the first time, whether it be by an ad, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc., you want them to be able to quickly and easily find more information about your products and services. It may not happen on the first visit, but with the right content, plan, and targeting, they will return again and will likely buy your product or service. How do you get them to come back? Give them something valuable in return for signing up to your email list.
Potential Clients
Finding the right people is a process. You will want to target your audience. Whether it is by their age, gender, education level, interests, problems they can solve with your product or service, etc.. One way of coming up with a target audience is to look at your past customers and see what they have in common. Once you know who your target audience is, now it is time to work on your lead generation strategies.
Marketing
Here are a few examples of how to market to potential and existing customers:
Website: Your website is going to be the key to online lead generation. It will need an easy to follow, well-designed landing page or home page.
Content Marketing: A form of marketing focused on creating, publishing, and distributing content for a targeted audience online. Content marketing is not direct sales, but it helps to build trust in your brand. It’s the slow game, but if done correctly it always pays off.
Email Marketing: Email marketing is a great way to get to your targeted audience while staying on budget. Almost half of the people that sign up to email lists, do it because you are offering something in return. Make sure there are easy ways to sign up for your emails (website pop-up, email signature, etc.).
Social Media: Social media shouldn’t be ignored. It is a great way to target your audience and get more known.
A good lead generation has a number of moving parts. You will need to remain open-minded about your process. Remember to keep up with what works for you and doesn’t. Keep in mind that one thing that works for someone, may not for someone else.
